The Buttercup County Fair is bright. Cotton candy spins pink. Ferris wheel carts rock in the sun. Tandy adjusts two turquoise hearing aids and grins. Tandy loves shoes! The chest carousel spins with tiny glittery boots. Everyone else watches the giant rooster. But Tandy's sharp eyes look higher. Beyond the tents, the western sky turns dark. It looks like bruised plums. Yellow banners snap stiffly backward. In the green meadow nearby, six fluffy prize sheep all sit down together. A dust swirl spins popcorn across the grass. A storm is coming. Nobody else sees it!
